Event Description: A 'double heading' pulls the 'rattler' as the 'highball artist' runs a 'red ball' along the 'ribbon rail' through 'rat holes' hoping not to 'hop toad.' The 'red board' lights up, the 'shack' throws on the brake and the 'hog' slows to a stop at the 'barn' to unload.

Need someone to translate? Then come down to the Smoky Hill Museum for their new exhibit. In respone to high visitor demand, this fun look at railroads, coming in February to the center gallery, is sure to please all ages. Explore the story of the rail through gauges, whistles, bells, signals, jobs, depots, engines and cars.

As always, you will find more than photographs, artifacts and information on display. You can traverse the gallery in a hand-powered rail car and make the piston drive the train wheels on a workable version of a steam engine. So come on down. No ticket is necessary for this fun ride through railroad history!
